You can of course change it if you want, there is no need for prioritytelecom (soon we will move away here anyways).

On another note, I have a gmail account and I receive updates just fine.

Does the email gateway still work? I always forget I can just reply
the mail i receive :).

Looks like current config for redmine smtp is now going through a different
mail server, and at least one user has reported that he hasn't gotten a
registration email.
From the current configuration.yml:

delivery_method: :smtp
smtp_settings:
address: smtp.prioritytelecom.nl
port: 25
domain: alpinelinux.org

Carlo, any reason why we can't relay is going through prioritytelecom
instead of through mail.alpinelinux.org?
